Greater Victoria Velodrome Association (GVVA) RBC TG 2024 program
Step 1: RBC Training Ground regional qualifier participation.
- Victoria – Saturday March 2, 2024. (UVIC @ CARSA).

At the conclusion of Step 1- Interested athletes are invited participate in a GVVA Learn to Ride track cycling clinic.
Step 2: GVVA Learn to Ride Clinics.
Select one of the following Learn to Ride clinic dates.
Note: participating in earlier dates facilitate earlier access to Learn to Race programs.
- April 7 (9-11a) – Learn to Ride Clinic # 1.
- April 21 (9-11a) – Learn to Ride Clinic # 2
- May 5 (9-11a) – Learn to Ride Clinic # 3 (rain date)
- Learn to Ride Clinics include rental bike, coaching, and facility access.
- Athletes must bring their own cycling helmet and running shoes (cycling shoes/pedals if you have them), and comfortable sport clothing (shorts, or pants with tight ankles -no jeans).
- Cost= $65 / Learn to Ride Clinic.

Step 3: 6-week GVVA Learn to Race Program.
Join one of the following GVVA Learn to Race club program(s) for an introductory 6-week training program.
- Learn to Race Programs run on Monday.
- Athletes > 17 yrs old – GVVA Adult Learn to Race coached sessions (6-8p).
- Athletes 14-16 yrs old – GVVA Faster Track Youth Development Program (4:30-6p)
- Programs are 6 weeks in duration. Athletes are encouraged to participate in all sessions.
- Session 1. April 8 – May 13
- Session 2. April 21 – May 27
- Dedicated coaching support for RBC TG participants will be provided by Kurt Innes.
- Learn to Race Program includes rental bike, coaching, and facility access.
- Cost = $100.00 / 6-week Learn Race training program.

Step 4: GVVA Club Program.
Join the 2024 GVVA Club Program. This includes a 16-week cycling training program, access to 2-3 sessions per week of track cycling practice, access to GVVA weekly and weekend competitions, and sport specific testing.
- Depending on athlete age /skill level / goals, availability, etc. – the following two program options exist;
- Athletes > 17 yrs old – GVVA M/W/F/Su Club programming,
- Athletes 14-16 yrs old – GVVA M/T/Su FasterTrack programming
- Program runs until August 18, 2024.
- Costs:
- $100 for GVVA club track pass (adult), or FasterTrack (youth) membership.
- Optional – $200 / month for cycling training program and 1 x week in-person coaching on Monday’s.

Step 5: NSO nomination for 2024 RBC Training Ground National Final
Athletes who complete steps 1-3, or 1-4 above, and meet Cycling Canada RBC TG performance criteria, may be invited to participate within the 2024 RBC Training Ground National Final (date and location TBC).

Note: **Entry into VCL and Pacific GP competition may require a Cycling BC racing license.

Cycling Canada Sport Specific Testing:
In partnership with Cycling Canada, athletes who are successful in completing Step 3 may be invited to participate in sport specific testing. This testing may include physiological tests/measures such as vertical jump testing, force place analysis, cycling ergometer testing, and other questionnaires such as the Psychological Characteristics of Developing Excellence (PCDE) Questionnaire. These sessions/tests will be discussed and organized with the individual athlete as required.
Costs to participate in Track Cycling (summer 2024).
- $65. One-time Learn to Ride Clinic (includes bike rental, coaching, insurance).
- $100. 6-week RBC TG learn to Race program.
- Includes 1.5 month track pass, club membership, and bike rental.
- $100. Upon completion of Learn To Ride, and 6-week learn to race programs, if the athlete is interested in continuing to participate in track cycling – they pay the balance of either GVVA adult track pass, or FasterTrack fees ($100).
- $200 / month for June, July, August ($600 total) for cycling coaching & training program.
- Total = $265 (or $865 with coaching) + Cycling BC License fee if interested in racing (Not required for most GVVA Track races, except Pacific GP).
