The weather was looking a little iffy in the afternoon, seemingly a threat of rain in the dark clouds hanging over us. The mixed conditions combined with the upcoming provincial road champs and Bastion Square criterium has probably kept the numbers a little lower than the norm. Despite that our dedicated racers arrived in sprinkles and we got started a little later than usual. Ian was kind enough to volunteer to help with results and bell ringing. Brad got everyone signed on, grabbed the bell from storage and up to the rails we all went to start the opening scratch race.

Some knew that Brad had to dash out by 7:20pm, and so didn’t intend to finish the opening race. Mike commented after the race how Brad made the group work a little harder for the first 10 laps than usual. At 8 to go, Brad rolled off track to get to his son’s lacrosse game just up the hill, smiling that he’d put a bit of an effort in to keep them all honest.

Thanks to Ian for volunteering and for everyone racing on what stayed a dry night. A nice win for Mike Cooper in the elimination race!
